Nice and interesting thread. :) My parents used to listen to classic and jazz music and I remember clearly loving Mahler compositions and the Beethoven 6th symphony, 'La Pastorale'. But the first one that introduced me to rock music was 'Don't let me down' (The Beatles) ; I was 10 or 11, during a summer while I was visiting my cousins which are 7 and 9 years older than me and were listening music a lot. This one stuck in my mind forever. After, there have been these : 'Out on the weekend" (Neil young) and 'I got the blues' (Rolling Stones). Don't know exactly why but the Neil young one decided me to get a guitar ; I was 15 at this time. From this, I slowly got more gear through the years but never a true music theory background and I guess that's what is limiting me, presently, this, with a not enough rigorous practice through the years, but well... Just jammed alone yesterday evening until late, with my new guitar amp and I regret not having recorded at least few things. The essential is still there : the pleasure of playing, even with limited skills. And I still don't like jazz compositions : too complicated. No matter what jazz piece is involved, it will never touch me as much as, say, something like Neil Young 'Ramada Inn' tune...
